set to rise - 2019 Rose'

This slightly spritzy award winning Austrian grape varietal Rosé is made from Zweigelt, Agria and  Grüner Veltliner grapes.   This Rosé is special,  bright and aromatic thanks to 100 percent whole-cluster pressing, with very limited skin-contact,  tank-fermented under cool conditions to retain its steely freshness.

In the glass, a deep pink color with orange hues gives way to a rich and creamy mouthfeel, bursting with candied peach, nectarine and wild strawberry notes.  The finish is long, infused with dazzling red-berry and saline mineral notes.

October 2, 2019 - Harvest Notes

Difficult weather conditions, sporadic rainfalls and lower growing degree days demanded scrupulous care and extensive work in the vineyard this year; so that healthy and grapes could be harvested. The wine grape cluster volume will be below our long-term average.

Mother Nature's weather performance in 2019 was not exactly favorable. The mild Winter and cool Spring were somewhat marred by lower precipitation during the Winter and rainy/cold conditions in the Spring. Nevertheless, the warmth at the end of May and good weather during flowering provided a fine head start for the vegetation period. However, the Summer sun was not plentiful and there were higher amounts of rainfall – all of which slowed up the earlier robust start to the vegetation period.

Expectations for good harvest weather in September and October saw the continuation of cooler weather with the veraison period commencing in late August and continuing through September. It was necessary to check the health of the grapes constantly in order to make a good harvest selection.  With the cold snap and 5 inches of snow on September 29, 2019 we decided to harvest on October 2nd, 2019.
